Terms of Service
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Welcome to HomeSafe. These Terms govern your use of the HomeSafe Carer mobile app and the companion HomeSafe UK app (together, "the service"), operated by HomeSafe Companion Ltd, a company based in London, United Kingdom. By installing or using the service you agree to these Terms.
1. Who can use the service
You must be at least eighteen years old to install HomeSafe Carer and connect to a loved one's family. HomeSafe UK is intended for adults; a loved one can be of any age, but the person setting up their account must be a competent adult or their authorised representative.
2. What the service does
HomeSafe Carer shows family carers basic information their loved one has chosen to share — name, address, doctor, emergency contacts, and important medical notes — and provides one-tap shortcuts to call, video-call, message via WhatsApp, or trigger the phone's built-in SMS and call functions during an emergency. We do not place calls, send SMS, or hold conversations ourselves; the app simply opens the relevant feature on your phone.
3. What the service does NOT do
- It does not monitor your loved one's vital signs, location, or activity in real time.
- It does not detect falls, strokes, or other medical events.
- It does not contact emergency services on your behalf — every call goes through your phone, initiated by you.
- It does not store or transmit medical advice. Information shown about medications or conditions is what the loved one (or whoever set up their profile) typed in. Always verify with their doctor.
- It does not guarantee delivery of any message, call, or notification.
4. Your responsibilities
By using the service you agree that:
- The information entered about the loved one is accurate to the best of your knowledge and was provided with their consent (or, where the loved one cannot consent, by someone with the legal authority to act for them).
- You will not share the 8-digit family code with anyone you do not trust to see the full profile.
- You will not use the service for any unlawful purpose, to harass, stalk, or impersonate others, or to attempt to access accounts that are not yours.
- You will keep your phone's operating system reasonably up to date so that security fixes apply.
5. Account and family connection
Carers join a family by entering the 8-digit code from the loved one's HomeSafe UK app. A family can have one primary carer and up to several secondary carers. The primary carer is normally the first to join. Either the loved one (via HomeSafe UK) or the carers themselves can disconnect at any time. Disconnection removes the carer from the family but does not delete the loved one's profile.
6. Availability
We aim to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service depends on third parties such as Apple, Google, our hosting provider Render, and your mobile network and Wi-Fi connections. Brief outages and maintenance windows are possible. Plan accordingly and never rely on the app alone for safety-critical needs.
7. Fees
The app is free during the pilot phase. We may introduce paid tiers in the future; if we do, prices will be shown clearly in the app and charged through Apple or Google's in-app purchase system, under their refund rules. We will not start charging you without your explicit consent in-app.
8. Intellectual property
The HomeSafe name, logo, app design, code, and documents are owned by HomeSafe Companion Ltd. You may not copy, reverse engineer, modify, resell, or rebrand the service. You retain ownership of the personal information you enter — we only act as a custodian of it under the Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, HomeSafe Companion Ltd is not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) one hundred pounds sterling. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the app. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, misuses the service, or puts other users at risk. If we close your account we will give you a chance to export your data first, except where the law requires immediate action.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change and material changes will be notified inside the app. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of them will be heard in the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence give you the right to bring the claim locally.
